CANIK, CAN IK – or White Selfexisting (CAN) Wind (IK). The name given to me by the Law of Time. Based on my birthday, it represents one day in a 260 day cycle, deemed holy in the Mayan culture. It took some time to recover this name, and I am still in the process of discovering and giving its meaning. In 2015, I gave up my job and many other daily activities, not knowing what would come up next. But, I agreed with myself to do the one thing I always wanted to do “if I only had more time”, which was making music.
Music has always been in my life. Sitting on my fathers foot while he was moving it to the rhythm of the song he was playing on his guitar is one memory of my early ears. Also playing on the large electric organ at my grandparents place is one of my fondest memories. Later on, I was fooling around on the attic with my keyboards, synths and software, but never a single note left that room. In 2015 I made the decision to end this silence, and share whatever came with the world.
I’ve started writing down the story, how this decision changed my course and ultimately my life. You can find it elsewhere on this site.
I hope you find some inspiration here, in the writings, digital paintings or music I share. Thanks for stopping by, feel free to drop a line.
